Stable flame retardant additive and its application properties Dec 20, 2018

1,2,5,6-tetrabromocyclooctane and 1,2-dibromo-4-(1,2-dibromoethyl)cyclohexane are commonly used flame retardant additives. In the potential applications of these compounds, as flame retardants in injection molded styrene polymers, and as flame retardants in expanded or foamed styrene polymer compositions such as EPS and XPS. However, the thermal stability of tetrabromocyclooctane and dibromoethyl-dibromocyclohexane is insufficient to prevent thermal degradation under some high temperature conditions encountered during mixing or molding of these polymeric products.

In fact, for the application of different flame retardant additives such as expanded or expandable styrene polymers, in addition to having sufficient flame retardancy and high thermal stability, prevention of surface roughness or surface defects is also a major requirement. In the case of molding styrene polymers such as XPS, other desirable properties are the low corrosivity of the metal in contact with the hot mixture during processing and the ability of the flame retardant to mix well with other components in the extruder.

That is, after the use of the flame retardant additive, it is possible to produce no plasticization of the matrix polymer, minimize agglomeration in the additive formulation during handling and storage, and low cost.http://china-zhufengchem.com/
